Elysian: providing animal-assisted therapy and learning

Refer or enquire

Elysian responds to every referral and enquiry within two weeks. Choose the route that matches you below, or read the whole page: it works the same printed and with JavaScript switched off.

The referral process

  1. Initial referral

The referral, or consultation for education placements, is sent to refer@elysianuk.org with the relevant referral form and the supporting documentation attached to the email, for example an EHCP.

  2. Visit and Taster Day

If we feel we may be able to meet need, we will contact parents and carers to arrange an initial thirty minute visit, followed by a full Taster Day from 10am to 2pm. This allows both the young person and Elysian to find out whether the setting is right.

  3. Offer

If the visit and Taster Day are successful, we will send an offer directly to you.

We aim to respond to every referral within two weeks.

Supporting documentation to include in the referral or consultation

  • EHCP, for education referrals only
  • Current assessments
  • Recent annual reviews

Age range and registration

All three provisions take young people in academic years 7 to 12, aged approximately 11 to 17. Each site holds its own registration and its own Ofsted report:

Capacity and placement fees are not published. If either affects a referral you are making, ask us directly at refer@elysianuk.org and the team will answer straight away.

Please use the form below for any general referral enquiries.

Use this for a first enquiry or a general referral question. It captures contact details and the nature of the enquiry only: please do not include your child's diagnosis, health information, EHCP content or safeguarding history here. Send documentation of that kind directly to refer@elysianuk.org instead.

For families

Our education provision at Elysian is funded and arranged through a local authority as part of a child's education, health and care plan. If a consultation for a placement is sent, the referral will come from your local authority.

That does not mean there is nothing you can do now. If you would like Elysian to be considered for your child or young person, talk to your local authority SEN team, your school or your social worker about a referral.

You can also get in touch with us using the form below and we will do our best to answer your questions and help you understand what happens next.

Arranging a visit

If we feel we can potentially meet need, your young person will have the opportunity to visit our setting as part of the formal referral process.

Before a referral is sent by the local authority, we offer parents and carers the opportunity to visit our sites and discuss your young person's needs with a member of the team. This is known as a pre-referral visit.

For pre-referral visits, we ask that you do not bring the young person to site. This is to avoid any feelings of false hope or disappointment should the placement not go ahead. Placements may not happen for a variety of reasons, and we want to avoid causing distress to a young person who had hoped to come to us.

If you would like to book a pre-referral visit, please complete the form below.
