At Elysian, we recognise that some learners may use English as an Additional Language (EAL). We are committed to ensuring that all learners can access the curriculum, participate fully in school life and achieve their potential, regardless of their level of English language proficiency.

Where a learner has EAL needs, we assess the level of support required and implement reasonable adjustments to help them access learning, communication and wider school activities. Support may include adapted teaching approaches, visual resources, additional language support, liaison with parents and carers and collaboration with external professionals where appropriate.

Our approach is tailored to the individual learner's needs. In developing support strategies, we draw on recognised sources of good practice, including guidance from The Bell Foundation, alongside professional judgement and any relevant advice from external specialists, to ensure learners can access both their education and wider school experience effectively.

We value and respect the cultural and linguistic diversity of our school community and seek to create an inclusive environment in which all learners feel welcomed, understood and able to succeed.
