Elysian is a group of specialist organisations providing therapeutic education, animal-assisted intervention, training and development, and commercial activities across sites in Surrey and Hampshire. Our income today comes overwhelmingly from commissioned education and therapeutic provision for children and young people. Building sustainable commercial income alongside that provision is the purpose of this role, and it is a new role: Elysian has not previously had dedicated commercial leadership.

An honest picture of the commercial function you would inherit: the Elysian Academy, our online training offer, has had a year of creation and product build, but sales to date are minimal. The Elysian Awards programme is established as a concept but currently has no sponsors. Our events programme is in its infancy and events are not currently running. Our Exclusive Community, a paid online membership, has very few paying members. A membership club for children launched this summer and is at its earliest stage. We have an ambition to operate our equine yard as a commercially run centre in its own right, which is at planning stage. The commercial and marketing team is being re-formed, with several experienced people departing over the summer, and there is currently no one in a dedicated sales role. The commercial function carries a team cost of circa £300,000+ a year, which this role is accountable for earning back and exceeding. In short: the products largely exist, the selling has not yet happened, and the leadership seat is empty. All commercial activity operates alongside safeguarded provision for children and young people, which shapes what we can do and how.
