Equine Connections is an inspiring weekly programme designed for home-educated children and young people aged 7-14 who are eager to explore equine-related learning, build new skills, and develop meaningful connections in a supportive environment. Sessions run every Wednesday afternoon at our beautiful Westland Farm site, which provides an ideal setting for hands-on equine activities and outdoor learning.
Each two-hour session focuses on developing practical skills and knowledge about equines. Participants will engage in activities such as grooming, stable management, learning about horse anatomy and behaviour, and participating in group challenges that foster teamwork and problem-solving.
As part of the programme, young people will work toward AQA Unit Awards, gaining recognition for their achievements in equine care and management. This structured yet flexible learning pathway allows participants to progress at their own pace while building confidence, responsibility, and a sense of achievement.
While the programme is focused on equine education, it naturally incorporates opportunities for developing social skills, communication, and self-esteem in a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere tailored to individual needs and abilities.
Equine Connections is perfect for children and young people who are enthusiastic about horses and eager to learn in a positive, engaging environment. Whether they’re looking to build friendships, explore their passion for equines, or gain accredited awards, this programme offers a unique and enriching experience.
